Getting to Shenzhen

March 1, 2012

The flight to Hong Kong was painless — if that is the right way to describe being crammed in steerage for 15 hours.  In all honesty Singapore Airlines made it as pleasant as possible.  From HKIA we took a boat into Shenzhen.  At US$40 it was twice the price of other ways of getting there, but I thought by water would be the most stately way to arrive.  Since the HKIA airport juts out in the bay it was also the shortest route by far.  The ferry company claimed our bags and loaded them on the boat — well, they would have if we had bags.  But alas, Frontier Airlines thought the bags would enjoy another day stateside at SFO.

Here we are on the boat — unfortunately it was too cold to be outside.
